What Dick B. Found (#2)

Dr. Bob Smith made many statements about his “Heavenly Father,” and they paralleled the language in the Bible quoting Jesus Christ:

“Your Heavenly Father will never let you down!” Alcoholics Anonymous, 4th ed., page 181.

“I used to get a little peeved at our Heavenly Father, because He had been a little slow on the trigger in my own case.” The Co-Founders of Alcoholics: Biographical Sketches: Their Last Major Talks, page 15.

“I’m talking about the attitude of each and every one of us toward our Heavenly Father. Christ said, “Of myself, I am nothing—My strength cometh from my Father in heaven.” The Co-Founders of Alcoholics: Biographical Sketches: Their Last Major Talks, page 19.

“We had no humility, no sense of having received anything through the grace of our Heavenly Father.” The Co-Founders of Alcoholics: Biographical Sketches: Their Last Major Talks, page 19.

“But when we take time to find out some of the spiritual laws, and familiarize ourselves with them, and put them into practice, then we do get happiness and peace of mind. I feel extremely fortunate and thankful that our Heavenly Father has let me enjoy them.” The Co-Founders of Alcoholics: Biographical Sketches: Their Last Major Talks, page 20.

[A.A.’s DR. BOB and the Good Oldtimers states this on page 314: “Prayer, of course was an important part of Dr. Bob’s faith. According to Paul S., ‘Dr. Bob’s morning devotions consisted of a short prayer, a 20 minute study of a familiar verse from the Bible, and a quiet period of waiting for directions as to where he that day he, that day, should find use for his talent.’ Having heard, he would religiously go about his Father’s business, as he put it”]
