His Place Church,
14061 Chestnut Street, Westminster, California 92683, (714) 893 6555, Joe
Furey, Pastor.
Our initial message to Pastor Joe and His Place Church:
A special message of thanks to His Place Church which just
announced its joining the Agape Circle by which a number of churches, entities,
and individuals support the research, publications, and dissemination of
recovery information about the role that God, His Son Jesus Christ, and the
Bible have played in the recovery arena and can play today for those who want
God's help.
His Place Church is a uniquely strong recovery Christian
church in the Orange County, California area. It has hosted a number of our
A.A. History and International Christian Recovery Coalition conferences. Its
Friday night gathering is a unique fellowship group which welcomes the A.A. Big
Book and the Bible as the texts it uses. And it supports freedom of expression
by the hundreds who attend to get well and/or to help others overcome
alcoholism and addiction with our Heavenly Father's love, forgiveness, healing,
power, and deliverance, as well as the everlasting life He makes available
through His Son's sacrifice for the world.
In His Service, Dick
B..
Author, Historian, Bible student, Retired attorney, CDAAC,
and active recovered A.A. member with over 27 years of continuous sobriety, PO
Box 837, Kihei, HI 96753-0837; 808 874 4876/.
For twenty-four years, Dick B. and Ken B. (his son) have
traveled widely, interviewed, researched, and spoken at conferences and
personal meetings; and they have published some 46 books and over 1500 titles
on Alcoholics Anonymous History and the Christian Recovery Movement. They have
been warmly received by a substantial number of Christian recovery leaders and
workers in Orange County, California.
Among them have been: (1) Pastor Joe Furey, His Place Church
in Westminster, and the many who have attended our conferences there. (2) Roger
McDiarmid and Jonny Ray Bartel who have been strong supporters as well as
leaders in the His Place Church recovery work. (3) Randy Moraitis, Executive
Recovery Pastor, The Crossing Church, Costa Mesa, California--where the Friday
nite Lifelines meetings regularly helps hundreds. (4) Dr. Robert Tucker,
President of New Life Spirit Recovery, Inc.--a Christian recovery treatment
program and facility in Huntington Beach, California. (5) Former recovery
pastor at Mariners Church, Irvine, California Jim Gaffney who made our first
major nationwide A.A. history conference available at Mariners Church in May,
2009. (6) Bobby Nicholl, Admissions Director and Interventionist at Celebrate a
New Life at Hope By the Sea recovery center in San Juan Capistrano, California.
(7) David Roman, proprietor of four restaurants with the name Roman Cucina, in
Orange County, California, and vigorous supporter of our outreach to alcoholics
and addicts with the Christian message of hope. (8) Danny Simmons who has
introduced us to a number of leaders and now is in charge of a sober living
home made available by David Roman. (9) Bob Noonan, marriage and family
counselor in Orange, California, who has introduced us to many Christian
recovery leaders in his area; attended many of our talks; and enabled us to
speak at his "Stepping Out" recovery group in Glendora, California.
(10) Rev. Jerry Liversage, pastor in Costa Mesa, who has supported us in
several TV outreach programs in his area. And others too numerous to name here.
Once Ken and I founded the International Christian Recovery
Coalition in July of 2009, we began gathering together Christian recovery
leaders, workers, newcomers, and concerned members of the public at no-charge
as participants in this informal fellowship disseminating information about the
Role of God, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Bible in the recovery movement,
particularly in the early Alcoholics Anonymous Christian Fellowship in Akron,
Ohio. Today, the Coalition maintains a website
www.ChristianRecoveryCoalition.com, conducts conferences and meetings in the
United States and elsewhere, produces a Christian radio show
www.ChristianRecoveryRadio.com, and moves many Christian recovery projects in
50 states and 14 other countries.
We continue to research, meet, interview, write, teach,
speak, publish, and produce books, articles, blogs, YouTube programs, videos,
audios, and forum comments and meet with leaders wherever possible.
Why all these details? Because our Christian recovery
writing, publishing, and outreach are funded by benefactors, book sales, honoraria,
and a new group called the "Agape Circle." This is a circle of our
friends and supporters who contribute substantial, but modest regular
contributions to enable our work. Members now include Christian churches in San
Diego, Westminster, Livermore, Los Gatos, and Brentwood in California; a
psychiatrist at Harvard; a businessman in San Jose; a Christian treatment
program owner in Delaware; an auto dealer in Maine; an archivist in the State
of Washington; an executive in Toronto; a businessman in Ontario; a
philanthropist in Maui; a philanthropist and book publisher in Connecticut; an
Episcopal priest in Texas; an attorney in Miami; a businessman in Winter Park,
Florida; a recovered Christian in New York, and others.in Utah and Arizona.
We welcome, encourage, and are grateful for these dependable
regular contributions--mostly monthly and generally in the range of $50.00 to
$100.00 per month. Some come in larger amounts to fund particular events and
the travel connected with them. We would appreciate others joining the Circle.
In sum, thank you to His Place Church for joining the Agape
Circle and helping further the continuance of our work on the web, TV, audios,
radio, blogs, books, articles, and personal meetings and communications almost
daily with inquirers from all over the world.
Respectfully and In His Service,
Dick B., Kihei HI dickb@dickb.com
